F1 In Schools™

The F1 in Schools™ Technology Challenge is the world’s largest secondary school technology program. It involves over nine million students from 17,000 schools in 31 nations. It involves groups of 3–6 students having to design and manufacture a miniature "car" out of the official F1 Model Block using CAD/CAM design tools. The cars are powered by CO2 cartridges and are attached to a track by a nylon wire. After being designed and manufactured according to strict regulations, the cars are raced on an 80-foot (24 m) long track with two lanes, to allow two cars to be raced simultaneously. In Australia, the competition is run by the Re-Engineering Australia Foundation.
